Some Updates on Milford Budget Cuts

Here’s a snippet from a Connecticut Post article:

MILFORD ­– Aldermen were serenaded, harrangued and threatened Thursday night as an overflow crowd of parents, seniors and city employees packed the annual budget hearing.

Unlike in most years, there were nearly as many speakers on the municipal spending plan for the fiscal year that begins July 1 as for the education plan. The proposal to eliminate a school nursing job, a health sanitarian, two police officers and two firefighters drew the most ire on the city side of the budget, with several members of the public taking pains to note that this is a local election year. “You all know it’s an election year, right?” Jennifer Federico said. “Ignore us now and we’ll ignore you in November.”
