What Renters Should Know When Looking for Rental Properties
Renters, just like buyers, turn to the internet when searching for rental properties. They call all the real estate brokers in the area and schedule showing appointments for each property. You waste a lot of time and energy doing that.
My advice for renters – just call one Realtor, sign a buyer or tenant/broker agreement, and the Realtor will do the rest for you – from scheduling the showing appointments to the finalization of the lease and the time you can move in. Regardless whose listing it is, a Realtor can show any listing in the MLS.
Who pays the Realtor’s fee? The listing broker does – which comes from the landlord, and it’s stated in the MLS listing.
What are the requirements in order to get a rental property? Standard requirements are:
1) a very good, if not excellent, credit report
2) security deposit plus the first month’s rent
3) person and credit references
4) lease contract – upon approval by the landlord
